Tyson Fury REMOVES dad John from corner for Oleksandr Usyk rematch

Tyson Fury's dad will NOT be in his corner when he takes on Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.

Fury Sr came in for considerable criticism, including from his own brother, for his advice during Fury's defeat by Usyk in May. He has not commented on the fight since and has not been in Saudi Arabia this week. And head trainer SugarHill Steward confirmed Fury Sr will not be present this weekend.

"Tyson Fury is just ready right now, along with myself. He has always had a silly demeanour, and playing around but this is a different side of him. he is 100 per cent ready," he said. Pushed on who will be in the corner, he added: "Just myself, Andy Lee and the cutman, pretty much that's it."

Asked about whether Fury will be aggressive, Steward added: "It's just how we normally train, I was taught by Emmanuel Steward. It's always about hurting somebody, pain and knockouts. It was written on the walls of the Kronk gym. The harder you work the bigger the rewards. Everything that is boxing, that's what he's bringing on Saturday, that's what his mind is geared towards."

Fury himself uttered just 17 words in his interview after a brief workout on Wednesday night. His theme was obvious as he answered questions with: "A lot of pain. Smash and damage," then "A lot of hurt," followed by "Hurt," and finally: "Serious hurt. A lot damage."

Usyk cut a far more relaxed figure during his workout. Asked about Fury's monosyllabic comments, he joked: "OK". Usyk will be the favourite going into Saturday's sequel having outpointed Fury in May. The Brit had the better of the first half of the fight before Usyk turned the tide from round eight.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk are set to lock horns again on December 21 with the Brit attempting to avenge his defeat by the Ukrainian in May. Victory for Fury could also set up a huge domestic showdown with bitter rival Anthony Joshua next year

Fury was almost stopped in the ninth session but has vowed to end the rematch early. "Just for the record, I’m going to absolutely annihilate this motherf***** on Saturday night. No retirement, I’m cleaning them all out and he’s going to be first. Rabbit’s face,” Fury told Dazn.

"I was very happy with the performance (in the first fight). I didn’t get the result I wanted, but I was happy overall with what I did. It wasn’t any different to what I thought it would be. He was easier to hit.” Fury has already stated he will seek a trilogy fight against Usyk before switching attention to Anthony Joshua, while Dubois is also an option given he holds the IBF belt.

"I’ve tried to walk away many times and have been unsuccessful,” the ‘Gypsy King’ said. "I meant it when I retired after Dillian Whyte back in 2022. I really meant that wholeheartedly. "I could have put my hands on the Bible and meant it. But it was very difficult to let it go so I’m not sure if I can ever let it go. "What brings me back to the ring? Victory, winning the belts and keep going. It’s what I do.”
